The initiative “Brazylka – a Forgotten District of Białystok” received a distinction from the competition jury as well as a prize of PLN 500.
The walk aimed to present the history of one of the less well-known parts of the city, highlighting its heritage, urban layout, and social character. The project was recognised for its high academic quality and strong educational and local value.
The initiative was carried out by members of the Student Scientific Circle of Historians, with continuous support at every stage from MA Monika Kozłowska-Szyc, assistant lecturer at the Faculty of History.

The second initiative was the performance “The Braggart Soldier”, prepared by the Student Theatre OIMOI, operating at the Faculty of History.
The performance — a new interpretation of Plautus’ classical comedy — was featured in the promotional film summarising the Młodzieżowe Podlaskie Lokalnie project as one of the inspiring youth initiatives.
This recognition highlights the creative potential of students and their ability to combine historical knowledge with theatrical practice. The theatre group worked under the supervision of MA Dawid Kowalik and Katarzyna Fender.

The third initiative was the nationwide academic conference “Reclaiming the Global East”, organised by members of the Student Research Circle of Political Science and Diplomacy at the Faculty of History.
The conference brought together 21 speakers from academic institutions across Poland and became a forum for debate on the significance of the East in both contemporary and historical geopolitical, cultural, and social narratives. The initiative was supervised by MA Justyna Sikorska, a doctoral candidate at the Faculty of History, and MA Paweł Gawryluk, assistant lecturer at the Faculty of History.
On 9 June 2025, the Nationwide Academic Conference “Reclaiming the Global East” was held at the Faculty of History, University of Białystok. The event gathered 21 speakers from four Polish universities, creating a space for interdisciplinary reflection on issues of decolonisation, imperiality, and power structures in the region.
