Mgr Monika Kozłowska-Szyc and mgr Maciej Kwiatkowski from the Faculty of History of the University of Białystok are participating in the prestigious Winter Workshop “Climate Change and History Research Initiative”, held at Princeton University in the United States.

Faculty of History Student Initiatives at the 2025 Youth Initiatives Gala

Three initiatives created by students and young researchers of the Faculty of History, University of Białystok, were presented during the Gala of Local and Youth Initiatives 2025. One project received a jury distinction, another was featured in the official promotional film, and all three showcased the academic, cultural, and social engagement of our students.

Greek Days at the Faculty of History 2025

The Greek Days at the Faculty of History 2025 brought together scholarship, culture, and education in a week-long interdisciplinary celebration devoted to the heritage of ancient and modern Greece. Lectures, exhibitions, performances, and meetings with scholars created a vibrant space for dialogue between academia, students, and the wider community.

The establishment of the Faculty of History is associated with the date of July 15, 1968, and the founding of the Białystok Branch of the University of Warsaw. It consists of two departments: the Department of Cultural History and the Department of Demographic, Economic, and Religious Structures. The Center for Research on Demographic and Economic Structures of Pre-Modern Central and Eastern Europe also operates within the Faculty.

The scientific research conducted at the Faculty covers all historical periods, beginning with antiquity, with a strong emphasis on the history of the region, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and the eastern borderlands of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, as well as the history of the United States, Belarus, and Ukraine, the relationship between history and the natural environment, the budgets of early modern armies, and the situation of women in the 20th century.

The Faculty is authorized to confer the academic degree of Doctor of Humanities in the field of History and the postdoctoral degree of Habilitated Doctor of Humanities in the discipline of History.
