Between 14 and 21 November 2025, the Wydział Historii Uniwersytetu w Białymstoku hosted the first edition of Dni Greckie—an interdisciplinary event combining scholarship, culture, education, and the arts. For over a week, students, pupils, researchers, and history enthusiasts took part in lectures, workshops, exhibitions, competitions, theatrical performances, and meetings devoted to the heritage of ancient and modern Greece.
This year’s edition opened with the presentation of the photographic exhibition “Kolory Prawosławia. Grecja”, prepared in cooperation with the OrthPhoto platform. A short introduction to the exhibition was delivered by its coordinator, Aleksander Wasyluk. This was followed by the conference “Mit, legenda, historia i… popularyzacja wiedzy – od antycznych Aten po współczesny Białystok”, which brought together scholars and popularisers of ancient culture.
Particular interest was attracted by the Greek Day for Schools, attended by 300 pupils from the following institutions:
Zespołu Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Technicznych w Białymstoku
I Społecznego Liceum Ogólnokształcącego w Białymstoku
Zespołu Szkół Handlowo-Ekonomicznych im. Mikołaja Kopernika w Białymstoku
IV Liceum Ogólnokształcącego im. Cypriana Kamila Norwida w Białymstoku
Zespołu Szkół nr 2 w Ostrowi Mazowieckiej
I Liceum Ogólnokształcącego w Białymstoku
Zespołu Szkół im. Generała Nikodema Sulika w Dąbrowie Białostockiej
The pupils took part in lectures, a mythology-inspired knowledge competition “Wyprawa po Laur Apollona”, a staging of an ancient comedy prepared by the student Teatr OIMOI, and a concert of Byzantine music performed by the Paleologos choir.
Awards in the mythology competition were presented by the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Poland, Ms Niki Kamba. The event was hosted by Szymon Zadroga from the Studenckie Koło Naukowe Historyków.
As part of Dni Greckie, a meeting with prof. Krzysztof Łapiński, author of the book “Najmądrzejszy. Biografia Sokratesa”, was also held at Książnica Podlaska im. Łukasza Górnickiego. The discussion was moderated by prof. Aleksandra Klęczar.
The event concluded with the IV Zimowe Studencko-Doktoranckie Sympozjum Starożytnicze “Antyk po grecku i nie tylko”, during which young researchers presented the results of their studies on the ancient world.
The National Herald, a Greek newspaper published in the United States, also reported on Dni Greckie — read more.
